I survived Halloween! :-)

I struck a deal with my daughter that since Halloween is on a school night we would attend the Halloween carnival at the community center on Saturday and go to Applebee’s on Tuesday and she could wear her costume there. I’m not sure when I lost control of my house that I have to bargain with a seven year old, but back to the story.

So, when we leave for the carnival at 6pm, I had already eaten dinner and 800 calories for the day.  I knew temptation would be there, so I wanted to leave myself some wiggle room.  Luckily, the community center had fresh apples and cider out as a snack, so I nibbled on one of those while the kids played and won their candy prizes.  I did give in to temptation and have two individual Twizzler pieces, but I din’t feel any guilt since I know they are nearly fat free.  Since they are only 45 calories each ,  I didn’t break the bank eating them.  I’m not a big chocolate or taffy fan, so there was nothing else in her bag to tempt me.

And in case anyone is wondering, in my search to find the calorie content of individual Twizzlers, I did come these other favorites:

rn
Halloween fun/snack sizes:
rn
Twizzlers  - 45 calories
rn
Milk Duds -  40 calories
rn
Butterfinger - 100 calories
rn
Milky Way -  75 calories
rn
Tootsie Roll (Midgee) - 23 calories

For those that will be out driving this Halloween, please be extra cautious for little ones who may be too excited to look both ways before crossing the street or darting between cars.  When driving through neighborhoods, PLEASE drive no more than 15-20 MPH.  This minor inconvenience may make a difference in a child’s life.  Everyone have a happy and SAFE Halloween!

Work-related Vent

My boss called me in to his office to basically ask me why I have not been getting along with the new girl.  I’m sure most of you have figured out from the scarcity of my posts and my lack of a picture and I am a very private person.  I am also very shy and so I do not open up to many people.  I am very pissed off that I had to have a conversation to discuss why I have not rolled out the red carpet for this girl.  It’s not my style, nor will it ever be.  I have been here for 2 years now, and have always pretty much kept to myself.  The few people that I do associate with, I knew prior to joining this organization.  I know some co-workers know every intimate detail about each other and their kids, etc and that’s fine for them.  As for me, I come to work, do my job and go home.  Other than Good Morning and Good Night, nothing more should be expected of me.  I didn’t know they paid me to socialize.  We have over 300 people in our office, so my active participation should not make or break her day.

To answer Nikki’s question: I told him I didn’t know her to like or not like her so that was not an issue.  That I just didn’t have much to say to her, but that I’m sure he has noticed that I don’t have much to say to most people.  He then asked if I was okay or upset about anything and I told him everything was fine.  That was the end of the meeting.

I am definitely the Tortoise!

I have lost 1 more pound this week, for an overall weight loss of 60lbs.  I still have not been motivated to exercise, which I know would give me the 2-3lbs/week of weight loss that I want.  I have even gotten dressed to do an exercise video, just to sit down on the couch and watch a movie or read book instead.  The only exercise I get is walking around my office or outside events my daughter and I attend on the weekends.  The bad part is now that I have lost a significant amount of weight, I SERIOUSLY need to tone!

rn

Being a single parent of a minor child, I can’t just go walking after dinner or on the weekends and I DESPISE the gym.  It also makes it difficult to find an exercise/activity buddy that understands my schedule or can accomodate a “3rd member” to our team. I purchased a manual treadmill from the thrift strore, but after 2 days I could barely walk.  I think it put too much tension on my calf muscle since it stays at an incline and you have to use Tamira power to move it.  The good thing is after using it for an hour a day for those 2 days, I lost 2 lbs that week.  So, now I’m on the hunt for a non Tamira-powered Spacesaver treadmill.  What I liked about it was that I could watch TV or read while using it and that I could use it while my daughter was in bed for the night.

Guess I had a lot to get off my chest.  You guys are used to this much from me in one post, huh?  I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful day full of joy and love!
